6 Tips for Fog-Free Glasses on the Pickleball Court.
Missing a volley because you misjudged your distance? Frustrating.
Missing a smash because you couldn't see through your foggy lenses? That may be a recipe for your paddle entering the stratosphere.
At Brioti, we don't condone paddle chucking, nor suffering through a foggy, two-hour match. If you've never had issues with foggy eyewear, consider yourself lucky. But if you're like me, and just the thought of playing starts fogging your lenses, then this is for you.
These tips are especially helpful for Brioti performance eyewear which features our VAPORID™ anti-fog coating, but many apply to other options as well:
1. Give them a moment to adjust 🧊
Before you play, let your lenses acclimate to the environment. Pull them out of your bag and let them come up (or down) to temp while you warm-up. If fogging happens immediately when you hit the court, this small step can make a big difference.
2. Don't smother your specs 🌬️
You might be wearing your glasses tighter to your face than needed. A couple millimeters of extra space between your lenses and eyes can greatly improve airflow, which means better anti-fog performance.
3. Find your fit 🔧
Face shape plays a big role in the eyewear you can wear fog-free, and unfortunately it is a more difficult task for some than for others. If you have a low nose bridge and high cheekbones, certain styles will naturally sit closer to your face. At Brioti, we're working on this. That's why our FOCOS model now includes an XL nose pad, and our upcoming VELOX model (launching Summer 2025) will feature adjustable nose pads and a low-bridge fit option.
4. Keep your lenses clean 🧼
Especially the inside. Brioti's VAPORID™ anti-fog coating performs best when clean, as oils and dirt block the anti-fog magic from happening. Use your microfiber cloth and a light mist of Pickle Juice (or water in a pinch) to keep things clear.
5. Don't wear them on your head 🚫
Between points and games, avoid putting your glasses on top of your head. Hair = Oil. Oil = Fog. Going hand in hand with point four, oils from your hair will dirty up your lenses, hindering the performance of your VAPORID™ coating. Your head also traps heat, which can cause fogging when you put them back on. Instead, try clipping your glasses to your shirt, net cord, or hold them in your hand while you inevitably agree to "just one more game." (No judgment.)
6. Open those vents 💨
If you're wearing the FOCOS model, don't forget you can vent your lenses for additional airflow. Haven't tried it yet? Here's a quick tutorial:

What about anti-fog sprays and wipes?
If you're using Brioti lenses, skip 'em. Our VAPORID™ coating is designed to offer superior anti-fog performance without additional treatments. Sprays and wipes may actually reduce performance, as they inhibit the coating from working properly. If you're using eyewear with standard lenses, anti-fog products can help a little... but for heavy foggers, it's often not enough.
We hope these tips help you hold the line with clarity and confidence, and please let us know which one makes the biggest difference for you.
Happy Dinking,
Tanner
